Back in the early days of Apple…

In 1989 at the Apple Macintosh facility in Fremont California, I designed the interior for their new testing facility for their new advanced chipsets. For design inspiration and fun, I used the monolith from “2001 Space Odyssey“ movie. The monolith was penetrating the facility with the door attached. I called the room “Val 1000”, a precursor to the ‘Hal5000’ AI in the movie. “Val1000’ referencing the Silicon Valley. The engineers loved it.
